“Moose And The Snowman”

Series 1 Book 1: by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved

In the very far north lived a very small moose,

Who saw many animals all running loose.

Flocks of geese flying high in the sky

But they never came down to the ground to say hi.

He saw many bears catching fish in a stream,

But they did not stop to say hi to him.

He saw lots of penguins who waddled all day,

But they did not ever waddle his way.

He saw many more animals all over the land,

But no one stopped to say hi and make friends.

Moose was sad as he looked for a friend.

So he walked and walked in the snow, and then,

He came across a tall mound of snow.

Like three round balls piled high, with the glow.

Shining bright and white and shimmering too.

It was not here before, this was something new.

It was white like the snow and big like a bear.

It did not fly like the geese, it was just standing there.

It was dressed like the Penguins with a big coat of fur,

So Moose moved closer to just say a word.

“Hi, my name is moose! Do you want to play?”

But the snowman just smiled and had nothing to say.

So Moose just started to dance all around,

and play with this new friend that he’d found.

He danced in circles and sang real loud.

Then a couple of geese flew down from the clouds.

They saw moose playing and came down to the ground.

And when moose saw them he said, “Come join our fun.

We are just being silly and dancing around.”

So they joined his dance circle and two friends were found.

As they danced in their circle, one friend became three,

And what did they see walking by Moose’s knees?

Two penguins stopped by to join the new crowd.

And now the singing was getting real loud.

Three now are five, and the round one was glad.

You could just see by the smile that he had.

Then three bear cubs joined the dancing, but wait,

Moose’s one snowy friend had now become eight.

Eight friends in the snow and moose was now glad

As he turned to thank the first friend that he had.

But snowman just smiled in his own happy way,

And Moose new if he could, the snowman would say,

“It takes only one person to just break the ice,

And show all the others, we all can play nice.

So when you’re out playing and looking for friends

Say hi to your playmates and offer your hand.

Start with a smile and tell them your name,

And maybe they too will join in your games.
