“Moose And The Flying Lesson”

The day is bright, the air is cold,

Geese said, “Running is getting old.”

“It’s time to soar, it’s time to fly,

It’s time to jump up to the sky.”

So all the friends just gathered around,

And tried to jump high off the ground.

They jumped, and jumped again real high

But try their best, only geese could fly.

Walrus laughed as he slid around

And said, “I’ll stay here on the ground.”

Moose said, “that’s way too high for me.”

Bears said, “I think we all agree.”

Then Penguins said, “but we have wings,

Just show us how to use these things.”

Geese said, “Well, first you climb real high,

And then you jump and flap and fly.”

“That sounds like fun where do we start?”

Geese said, “From snowman’s highest part.”

So one climbed up on snowman’s hat

And got prepared to jump from that.

As penguin stood above snowman’s eyes

Moose said, “I don’t think this is wise.”

Then jumping off, down penguin went.

And when he hit, his wing was bent.

“Ouch!” He said in a loud cry.

“I don’t think I was meant to fly.”

Bears said, “It’s broken, we need help.

You cannot fix your wing yourself.”

Moose thought, “Maybe the human ones

Can try to fix this thing you’ve done.”

They put penguin upon the sled,

And went to town while two geese led.

One Moose, walrus, and three bears too,

Five pulled the sled while two geese flew.

And one penguin took up the rear

As one sat still and shed a tear.

“This really hurts.” He said real sad,

I did not think it was that bad,

To climb on top of snowman’s hat

And try to jump and fly from that.

Then soon two children out playing

Came by and saw the Penguins wing.

The boy and girl said, “Look at you!

It’s okay we know what to do.”

A scarf wrapped Penguins wing real snug.

Then smiling, both gave him a hug.

They put him back down on the sled

And waved goodbye as two geese led.

Moose said, “We learned a lot today

About listening to what others say.”

So back they walked to the tall snowman

Thinking about their two new friends.
