“Moose And The Children’s Toys”
Series I Book 8 : by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved
It was a bright and early snowy morn’,
When Moose heard a loud children’s horn.
And soon he saw the girl and boy
Coming toward Snowman to play with toys.
He saw their sled, all piled high
With all their toys, as they ran by.
He wondered why they brought so much.
How could they play with all that stuff?
The Snowman only stood his ground.
As boy and girl just plopped right down.
Then boy said, “Let’s just put these here,
Under the snow, until next year.”
And girl said, “Yes, and then we’ll say
They all got lost outside at play.
Then I will ask for something new
And you can say the same thing too.”
So Moose just watched and did not know
Why they would bury toys in snow.
And as the children ran away
Moose called to all his friends that day.
Three bears came after catching fish.
Two geese flew in with a big swish.
Five friends, plus Moose, now six are here,
As walrus joined, two penguins neared.
Nine friends all in a group again
Went up to join their Snowman friend.
Now looking down tall Snowman smiled
At all the toys that had been piled.
Moose said, “Such waste to leave them there.
Let’s take them to children who care.”
Geese said, “We know where girls and boys
Don’t have a lot, and love used toys.
Let’s take them to the neighborhood,
Where children care and treat them good.”
So all the toys were taken down
To the church and school, at the edge of town.
And when the children saw the piles
Their faces filled with tears and smiles.
Then Moose and friends went on their way,
As happy children played that day.
Back at the Snowman, girl and boy
Had both returned to find their toys.
“They’re really gone” the sad girl cried,
“Because we were greedy and lied.”
And then they saw Moose and his friends
Walking away, and followed them
Back to the school where children played
So happily, with toys that day.
Then boy and girl both understood
The joy brought to the neighborhood.
And though that day they lost their toys
Much joy came to more girls and boys.
