“Moose And The Sled Ride”

Way up north out in the cold,

With new adventures to be told,

Moose said,”What shall we do today?

Who knows where we can go to play?”

The penguins said,”Let’s try the hill,

And see if it’s ice-covered still.”

The bears said,”We can get a sled.”

So they met at the hill, just like they said.

The hill was frozen smooth and fast

And no one wanted to go last.

The sled flew down, three bears on top,

Until it traveled to a stop.

They climbed back up to join their friends

And said,”We’re going down again.”

The geese said,”Wait! It is our turn.”

And Moose said,”Bears will never learn

That when you play you have to share.

Let’s take our group and go somewhere.”

So go they did, to run and play,

While bears were left alone that day.

And when the bears climbed up the hill

They saw their friends had gone…until,

One said,”I see them far away.

I wonder why they did not stay?

Do you think that they all were sad,

Because we all were being bad,

And would not let them take a ride

When their turn came to use the slide?”

Let’s follow them and let them know

We’re sorry and will let them go.

It’s much more fun when we all play

As one big group. What do you say?”

So run they did, fast as they could,

Back down to their neighborhood.

They found their friends by tall snowman

All dancing ’round and ’round again.

Moose passed them by then Walrus too,

Who looked up and just said,”It’s you?”

As they moved on, then came two geese.

Two penguins more, and that made six.

Six friends said nothing to the bears.

They all just kept on playing there.

The bears looked on, and then they said,

“We’re sorry that we kept the sled.

Come play with us out on the hill.

And we can share, promise we will.”

Then Moose thought he saw Snowman wink,

Then said,”OK we will. I think

That maybe now your lesson’s learned

And all of us can take our turns.”
