Moose And The New Friend”

Series I Book 9 : by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved

In the bright snowy North it was a nice day

And all Moose’s friends just wanted to play.

Two geese, two penguins and Snowman were there

But Moose could not be found anywhere.

Three bears, one walrus, the friends totaled nine

And Moose was still the one they can’t find.

The geese flew high to get a good view

And saw Moose far away with someone new.

The geese told the others, who started to fuss.

They all said, “Why doesn’t Moose come play with us?”

Bears said, “Did he forget we’re his friends too?

So why is he playing with just someone new?”

Penguins said, “Maybe that’s just his own way

Of saying he does not like how we play.”

Walrus said, “I think it’s really not fair,

That Moose and his new friend are playing out there.”

Then geese said, “Do you know what we should all do?

Go tell him we’re angry. So upward they both flew.

They guided their friends to show them the way,

Where Moose and his new friend were playing that day.

And Snowman was smiling because he could see

Why all of the animals where so angry.

If only they knew why Moose was away,

Maybe they’d change the things they would say.

But Snowman stood silent and kept his big smile

As all of the friends had traveled a mile.

Soon they found Moose just standing alone.

And thought that his new friend had already gone.

He stood at the edge of a great big sea

And when Moose saw them he yelled, “Come with me.

I did not think that you were all near.

So why did everyone come way out here?”

Geese said, “We don’t think that it’s at all fair

That you are playing alone way out here

With someone else, instead of with us.”

Moose said, “Hey guys, what is all this fuss?”

Just then they all glanced way out toward the sea

And saw something small just floating there free.

It laid on its back and was holding a rock

And used it to hit something small, with a knock.

Moose said, “Mr Otter can open those shells

On his belly, while swimming around. Then Moose yelled,

“Hey Otter, come look, my friends are all here.”

And Otter said, “OK, I will be right there.”

So as he swam toward them, the two penguins said,

“Moose, Why are you playing with otter instead?”

“Because,” Moose said, “He lives by the sea

And finds his food here and can’t just run free.

But here we all can come visit with him

And even try to join in a swim.”

When all the friends heard this they felt really bad

About all the terrible thoughts that they had.
