“Moose’s Rescue Reunion”

Up north the days were growing long

And snowman heard the children’s song.

More often they would come and go

To play near him there in the snow.

Soon now, as winter leaves the air,

Moose and his friends would join him there.

Then girl and boy passed with their sled

And snowman heard them as they said,

“Let’s walk the forest trails today,

Nobody ever goes that way.

The sledding is much better there.”

And then a chill blew through the air.

Old winter was not done just yet

And girl and boy were in his net.

So far away they just walked on,

While no one knew where they had gone.

Snowman just watched them disappear,

As someone else was drawing near.

Moose was singing as he walked,

While up above he heard geese talk.

And as he waited for his friends,

He saw three penguins ’round the bend.

Then moose looked down and saw small tracks,

As all his friends were coming back.

Two bears and walrus on their way,

Were joining now to come and play.

Nine friends and snowman in the snow

And moose said, “Look where these tracks go.

The human children walked past here

And headed for the woods, I fear,”

Then heavy snow came falling down,

While boy and girl could not be found.

Geese said, “We’ll fly and try to see

If they are lost among the trees.”

So all the friends searched everywhere,

As cold and snowflakes filled the air.

Then two geese returned to say,

“They’re in the woods. We’ll show the way.”

As all the friends were drawing near,

They heard boy shouting, “Over here!”

Then moose walked close with nothing said

And just reached down to pull the sled.

And boy and girl held on real tight

As day was fading into night.

Over hills and fallen snow,

The friends all knew the way to go.

And soon they reached the children’s town,

Where people were all looking ’round.

Then boy and girl both thanked their friends

And knew they would be back again.

As moose, his friends, and snowman smiled,

The children were safe for a while.
