“Moose Finds A Fort”
Series 2 Book 4: by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved
The sun had just approached the sky.
And snowman watched as moose walked by.
On his way to join his friends
To run around and play again.
First, walrus came to join the moose
And then two penguins running loose.
Four animals and snowman too
It was now looking like a zoo.
Two geese joined in to have some fun,
Then came the three bears on the run.
Let’s see, the total now is ten
And it is time to play again.
But far away over the hill
Came boy and girl, with both arms filled.
Boy said, “These tools should help, I’m sure.
This is what we’ve been waiting for.”
Girl said, “Let’s try to make some walls,
To build a fort that stands real tall.”
So cutting ice and digging snow,
A small play fort began to grow.
And when the building was all done,
It stood and shined bright in the sun.
Boy said, “It’s done. It’s time to play.”
Girl said, “Let’s put these tools away.
We borrowed them to have some fun.
What if it’s found out they are gone?”
“No problem” boy said,”Let them lay.
No one will find them while we play.”
So as they played out in the snow
The friends just watched them come and go.
Moose said, “Look, they built play fort walls.
Almost as high as I am tall.
Geese said, “Yes! And when they are done,
We all can play there and have fun.”
So boy and girl played all day long
Then left the tools, now that was wrong.
When all the friends stopped by to see,
They found things where they should not be.
The penguins said, “Look over there.
Their tools are laying everywhere.”
Moose said, “Put them behind the wall,
And that will help protect them all.”
So in a pile, neatly stacked
Inside the play fort, tools were packed.
The next day boy and girl returned
And what new lesson did they learn?
“When we got home without the tools
They said we never follow rules.
We have to find them, we were bad.
They were the only tools we had.”
But, in the fort, they found the pile.
And all this just made snowman smile.
