“Moose And The Super Sled”

Series 2 Book 6: by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved

In the far far north it was late July

And moose just could not figure why,

With the sun now set and the stars alight,

He now beheld the strangest sight.

Across the sky then touching down,

A small snow sled came to the ground.

Tucked inside and dressed in red

A jolly man guided the sled.

Hitched in the front were eight reindeer,

As moose just watched them drawing near.

“Hey moose!” he heard the fat man say,

“We need some help. Come here this way.”

As moose walked over toward the elf,

He just could not believe himself.

Sitting there right in his sight

Was Santa Clause with him this night.

“Now moose,” he said,”I need your best

To help me with a little test.

The numbers of the children now

Have grown real large, but still somehow

I have to make my Christmas flight

And see them all in just one night.

So I am testing this new sled

To get me through while they’re in bed.

But Rudolf’s on vacation, see,

I hoped, maybe, you would help me.”

“But gee!” said moose, “I’m no reindeer.

Is there nobody else that’s near?”

Then Santa looked at him and said,

“Not only reindeer pull my sled.

To move real fast after we start,

My leader needs a real big heart.

And you’re the kindest one I know.

I’ve seen you help your friends, and so,

Let’s hook you up and get this done.

I think you’ll find it’s really fun.”

So right up front moose tugged the reins

As Santa started calling names.

“On Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen,

Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen.

Come on moose, now don’t be shy.

Let’s get this sled into the sky.”

Pulling hard, moose closed his eyes.

And then they all began to rise.

Up and up and up they went.

Faster now the sled was sent.

So fast moose saw the world below

As just a blur of ice and snow.

Then Santa said, “Hey moose, that’s great.

Let’s get you home before it’s late.”

Back to the ground, they came to rest.

Then Santa said, “A perfect test.”

Then moose and snowman watched that night,

As Santa’s sled rose out of sight.

The Super Sled all filled with toys,

Was ready now for girls and boys.
